where have i been?

The other day,
I was telling a friend of mine
that at the end of most days,
I feel like I haven't really done anything.
She had been feeling the same way,
and said she had started
making a list at the end of each day
of everything she had accomplished that day.
She was surprised at how much she had actually done,
and it made her feel so much better to be able to look at her list.
I don't know about you,
but when I make a list,
it's usually a "to-do list."
So, I've started making my "did-that" list each night,
and I love it.
I will still have my never-ending "to-do" list as well,
but it's nice to focus on what has been done
and not just what needs to be done.

So, I know it's been a while,
here's what we've been up to...

a wedding anniversary...

an adoption anniversary...

cupcakes to celebrate...

a sad good-bye...

a first tooth...

sunflowers are blooming...

we ate some cheetos...

entered the world of the iphone...

picked up our csa basket...
(i'll tell you about it later)

a fun play date...

we put our shoes on...

to go outside and plant some basil...

and parsley...

a second tooth...

hydrangeas are still blooming...
(my favorite)

went to see the "big cars movie"...

remember my army of day lilies...

discovered that i luuuuv greek yogurt...

and skinny girl margaritas...

put together a tube quilt...
(i'll tell you all about this one later, too)

got my hair done...
(this is what i look like, now)

bought a bridesmaid dress...
(get off my back, courtney)

and i finished jessica's scrappy wreath...

one last thought...
my babysitter is out of town for 2 whole weeks...
my next list will probably read...
"pulled hair out"

can i get a volunteer?

OK, so, I know that only a few of these are actually volunteers,
but I just love their attitude....
that volunteer spirit...
that willingness to show up
year after year,
bursting from the ground,
bigger and brighter than ever before,
asking for nothing in return.

It's like they just can't wait another minute,
and everyday, there is a new surprise
right outside my back door.

It won't be much longer until the hydrangeas
bloom into delicate snowballs.

I love that the Irises take turns by color.

Sage, that I planted last year, is covered
in sweet purple blooms,
and the bees can't get enough.

The thyme is covered in tiny white flowers.

Dill...

and cilantro...

and sunflowers
are popping up everywhere!

And, I just love watching these delightful little pears
grow all Spring and Summer!

flower "bed"

My new raised Strawberry "bed!"

I've had the idea for quite a while,
and my cute, little hubby
was been busy all day yesterday making it happen.

My friend, Christy, over at The Strawberry Patch is going to love this!

I'm so excited!

Let's plant some strawberries!
