birdseed wreath

I've been running a regular little birdseed wreath factory
out of my kitchen for the past two days.
I found this recipe a while back
and thought I'd give it a whirl.

*1 cup water
*2 envelopes knox unflavored gelatin
*2 cups bird seed

* simmer gelatin in water until dissolved
*stir in birdseed
*pour into mold
(spray the mold with nonstick cooking spray first)
*refrigerate for a couple of hours, and they're good to go

And, to be cheesy....
this recipe is for the birds!

madison creek farm

We are so excited to be participating in the CSA program
at Madison Creek Farm.

This weekend,
Peggy (thefemalefarmer) and Mark hosted
the first shareholders gathering of the season.
After a delicious lunch,
we walked around the beautiful farm,
met the other shareholders,
and filled our baskets to overflowing.

We met the chickens,

a silly goat,

and a friendly donkey.

We filled our baskets....

and, it really doesn't get any fresher than this.

We're happily enjoying our first share!

*broccoli
*asparagus
*radishes
*green onions
*cilantro
*arugula
*spring mix
*kale
*romaine
*1/2 dozen farm eggs
(1 of them green!)
*homemade kim chi
(didn't make it into the picture
and was very delicious)

Thank you Madison Creek Farm!

easter fun

While he was "bizzy" making Easter cards for everyone,

she entertained herself in the "applesaucer,"
and figured out a new trick!

And, then, I turned my back for one second.

What happened to our pretty "Easher" eggs?

I think I see the culprit.

amy's fabrics and gifts

I don't know where I've been,
but I just recently discovered that there's
a fabric and sewing shop in Westmoreland!

No more driving to Joanns!!!!!

Here's the link to Amy's website.
She has a great selection of fabrics and sewing supplies.

She, also, offers classes!
 I don't know about you,
but I love taking classes even if it's something
I already know how to do.
You never know what little trick
someone else may have up their sleeve,
and I want to know about all the shortcuts!

The best part:  She has a quilting machine!
And, her pricing is verrry reasonable!
I've been hesitant to do a large quilt
because I'm afraid I would get sooo bogged down in quilting it
that I'd never finish.
No more excuses!
I'm ready to tackle a queen-size!

scrappy wreath

So, I had a trash can full of these....

and I couldn't bring myself to throw them out.
So, I made one of these!

I'm calling it my "scrappy wreath!"

I still have some trimming to do,
(and I'm covered in so much lint that
I look like an abominable snowman)
but I like where this is going!

I used a wire wreath form,
and I just started tying on the scraps
as I picked them out of the pile.

It would be so easy to coordinate some fabrics,
and make one for a special occasion or holiday!
The strips that were
about 1/2 inch wide and 10-12 inches long
worked the best.

I foresee lots of wreaths in my future!

"More tatos, pwease."

Roasted Potatoes
*cut whatever kind of potatoes you have into bite-size pieces
(red, yukon, purple, sweet, etc. - they all work)
*throw in a chopped onion
*drizzle with olive oil
*a little salt & pepper
*chop whatever fresh or dried herb you are in the mood for
(rosemary is a favorite - parsley and thyme are also really good)
*roast at 350 for 50-60 min
(time will depend on how small they are cut)

It's super easy, and they look so pretty!

TOTEally Posh

so I can tell you about a pretty lady who is super talented.
If you don't already know about TOTEally Posh,
you should "toteally" check it out!
Erin makes fabulous clothes for the kiddos
as well as totes, burp cloths, bibs, and hair accessories.
All of which you can find here in etsy shop!
Here is a cute little onesie
that quickly became one of our go-to favorites!

quiltiness

"She...works with her hands in delight."
Proverbs 31:13

I have been very pleasantly surprised
that so many of you guys have shown interest
in my little creations.
For as long as I can remember,
I've been making things.
It's what I do.
I have more ideas than I have time,
and most of my ideas
are way above my skill level.
Therefore, I often find myself frustrated
because the finished products rarely
turn out as good as I see them in my mind.
Then, there's the little detail
of my being a perfectionist.
Do you see where this is going?

Anyway, I have found your
compliments and requests
very encouraging.

Thank you!

Here's a little quilt preview for you.
These will all be available for sale at the
 on April 28, 29, 30.

a few nicey janes

a little pinwheel action

 central park

more central park
gotta love kate spain
(I just got this one pieced together during nap time,
and hopefully I'll get it quilted tomorrow.)

And, no, it did not escape me that my fangs come out
whenever my husband or the kiddos get too close to the quilts,
but I didn't hesitate
to throw them over this crusty, old fence for pictures.
What can I say, I'm a difficult person.

And, then, I caught my first wiff of these guys.

Have I mentioned just how much
I love Spring?
